What painting technique do you use?I use something called, quite simply, pouring. Using my media I will mix various paint colours depending on need. Once mixed, these colours are layered one upon another in usually a plastic cup, but other items have been known to be used - if it's a receptacle it will work! The contents of the receptacle is then poured onto a canvas and heat is applied to encourage the generation of cells. The canvas is then manipulated until I think the paint looks just right. There are various ways to pour, each with their own special qualities. Because of the random nature of the pouring every piece produced is unique and one-of-a-kind.

What media do you use?I use acrylic paint, a pouring medium, silicone and water. All are safe and 100% non-toxic.

How does your commissioning service work?It all starts with you getting touch with me and telling me what it is you're after. I will work very closely with you, finding out colour schemes and preferred sizes. I've had some customers provide me with samples of wallpaper, some have sent me pictures of the intended room for the piece so that I can look at colours etc, and others are more free with their colour choices. I will usually do a couple of different practice pours first and share them with you so that I can get an idea of what you prefer. I will be communicating with you throughout this entire process to ensure your piece is just right.

If I commission a piece is there a limit to the number of colours I can choose? In theory, no there is no limit. However, the more colours the more chance of them becoming muddied in the pouring and manipulating stages of the painting. Sometimes the best results have come from three or four colours, but at the end of the day the choice is yours.
-
Do you varnish the pieces?Yes, all artworks are varnished unless otherwise stated by you.
-
Is there an upper limit to the size of canvas I can order? There isn't - think of a canvas size and if I can't find one I can have one made. Having said that, a very large canvas requires a lot of space so I would need a lot of forewarning before the planning stages.
-
How do I look after my artwork?Acrylic paint is waterproof when it dries, so whether it's varnished or not, a damp cloth across it will remove any dust. Acrylic paint is also resistant to sunlight and will fade very little, although any exposed canvas may be damaged (but not through the paint).

How do you package the pieces for shipping?Anything larger than 20cm x 30cm will be lovingly wrapped in brown paper, then bubble wrap, then more brown paper and lots of packing tape! Anything smaller will be wrapped in brown paper and then posted in a padded envelope.
-
Is there a flat rate for shipping?Unfortunately no. Shipping rates are dependent on weight, size and distance. I use Royal Mail Signed For and Parcelforce Worldwide express48. I will make the cost of shipping very clear to you once we get to the payment stage.
-
If I'm not entirely happy with my piece can I get a refund?Yes, this is possible. The piece needs to be returned undamaged and as far as possible in its original packaging. Once I receive the piece the full cost will be refunded minus the cost of the postage.
